On Friday, September 23rd 2011 Landon Jon joined our family at 6:54 am. He surprised us by showing up 3 weeks ahead of his scheduled October 14th c-section date. Sarah's water broke around 2:45 am and neither one of us knew what to do. Sarah called the OB nurse and she said to come on over to the hospital. With Nolan we just showed up on the scheduled c-section day and had him! This time definately snuck up on us! We had to run around the house trying to pack bags and get things that we would need at the hospital. Sarah called her mom and dad to come over and stay with Nolan while we left for the hospital. We got to the hospital around 4:15 am or so and got settled into a room. Sarah was having some contractions spaced out but since her water had broken the Dr. said it was time for the baby to be born. Around 6:30 AM they took us back to the OR to get Sarah prepped and before we knew it we heard a little baby crying in the OR at 6:54.
We didn't know if it would be a boy or a girl so that was the second surprise answered. Sarah thought it was a boy and she was right. I thought it was a girl for no real reason, just guessing. Landon Jon came out 4 weeks ahead of his actual due date so he was a little on the purple side and they got him a little oxygen in the OR. He started getting pink after that. Then they moved him next door and started getting him cleaned off and kept watching him to make sure he was ok. The next move was down the hall to the nursery where they got vapotherm started on him. The vapotherm helped put a little pressure on his lungs and moistened the air for him. He was breathing ok, just taking lots of breaths. Once they made sure they had Landon good and under control they got his weight, 6 lbs 13 3/4 ozs, and height of 19 1/2 inches long taken. They will keep him in the nursery until he is off of oxygen or vapotherm completely. Nolan will get a chance to see his little brother up close once Landon gets out of the nursery, so far he has been able to look in through the nursery window to see him. During the day Friday Landon kept getting better and better. His color continues to improve and in the early evening he was showing a little spunk and was a wake and wiggling a little. They gave him a pacifier and he seemed to like that. As of Saturday morning he is looking good and getting closer to his resparations goal to get off the vapotherm! He was showing even more spunk! Sarah finally got to hold him for the first time too!
